Timeline of World Events

A list of important events in the known history of the world. Dates are given relative to the calendar of Isalfyrne.

  • ~800 P.U.: First written records of wide scale dragon cults. These are later linked to the activities of the Knights of Arcelor.
  • 702 P.U.: First government of Eighprann formed to regulate trade, establish borders for a dwarven nation and develop a national military for the nation’s defence.
  • ~500 P.U.: The dwarves of Eighprann kill a grotesque and misshapen man, later identified as an orc. Across the sea, the emperor of the elves decides the dragon cults in his territory constitute a grave menace and assigns his Inquisition to investigate them.
  • ~400 P.U.: The Inquisition presents its findings. Shortly afterwards, the elves launch their assault against Narvik. The Knights persuade the elves, as well as the other nations of the world, of the power that they possess and the elves return home.
  • ~ 345 P.U.: The Truculent Cities, a faction of the Maeran Confederation, capture the Hergerfort through a horrific poisoning of most of the population.
  • 244 P.U.: The nine goliath clans are united into Eglath Manneo, the first goliath country known to have existed in southern Isalfyrne.
  • ~203 P.U.: The Dunns, a tribe on the continent of Isalfyrne, succeed in founding the nation of Alba, which is to become one of the most important states in the recovering world.
  • 179 P.U.: The Hergerfort suffers a vicious plague before being sacked by a group of Exodite raiders.
  • 178 P.U.: Heddibrun University is opened, marking Alba’s first noticeable interest in gaining education not related to weapons, armour or the construction of war machines.
  • 55 P.U.: The calendar of Terrence Orkney is first publicised. His liege, Lord Weaver, approves of the system and sends Orkney to get it adopted in other parts of Alba.
  • 45 P.U.: The Kingdom of Alba wins its first great war against the Eglath goliaths, marking the start of the country’s first expansion into southern Isalfyrne. Eglath Manneo collapses into a series of isolated mountaintop towns.
  • 40 P.U.: The Isalfyrne Year calendar system is established across the entire Kingdom of Alba.
  • ~30 P.U.: A small hamlet in what would eventually become the county of Kedeva grows large enough to become the village of Raylack.
  • 2 P.U.: After 40 years of war with the goliaths, Alba permanently conquers (having temporarily conquered several times before) the land that is now the counties of Cameroon, Somnia and Aridin. The goliaths surrender and sign a treaty that allows them to keep the Gol mountain range on the condition that they pay bi-annual taxes to the king.
  • 0 U.I.: The Isalfyrne calender is officially adopted by the rest of Isalfyrne (namely Eighprann, Na Beantann Alam and Veriibel) in a huge celebration known as the Unification.
  • ~60 U.I.: The villagers of Raylack, with support from the Farmers Guild, complete construction of Raylack Church.
  • 69 U.I.: The fall of Lord Kedeva implicates Albert Dunwithy and the Farmers Guild as traitors and the noble’s replacement has many of them killed. Raylack tradition records this as the first time that dragonborn were ever seen.
  • 74 U.I.: Alba wins its second great war against the elven country of Veriibel and reshapes its newly conquered lands into the counties of Belonia, Scrimsley, Arkbolt and Amorn.
  • ~100 U.I.: Alba sends volunteers to Scanadia to fight the Empire. This is eventually stopped by the Knights of Arcelor.
  • 112 U.I.: A trader is supposedly taken by the Phantasm.
  • 192 U.I.: Alba’s third (and slowest) expansion ends with the capture of Hurrock and the liquidation of the Maeran Confederation. Various former Maeran cities are beseiged in the aftermath including Charn (leading to the Fall of the No. 3 Chimney) but Alba eventually retreats to more defensible frontiers, leading to the establishment of its present day borders. Alba rules a grand total of 25 huge counties.
  • 215 U.I.: Ruling Isalfyrne’s entire southern portion turns out not to be enough as attempts begin at expanding Alba’s borders further north, leading to 157 years of stalemate and war with the dwarves of Na Beantann Alam that have yet to be concluded.
  • 337 U.I.: The Magicians Guild moves to Mali after being forced out of Kreptunn.
  • 345 U.I.: Professor Sistine discovers the writings of a journalist from the far east whose name is Yua Nam Nguyen. However, Nguyen’s writing mysteriously stops, much to the Professor’s disappointment.

  • 355 U.I.: The fortress of Ichtland is captured by the dwarves of Na Beantann Alam. The Albans plan an attack greater than any in living memory to recapture it.
  • 356 U.I.: The Albans recapture Ichtland, then fight several battles leading to an attack upon the Iron Circle, gatehouse to the dwarven city. During the campaign, Cain Dunwithy finds a metal item which he sells to make his fortune. A group of soldiers, including Captain Devlan Ranat and Marcus Jacobik, found the The Iron Circle mercenary group.

  • 372 U.I.: Captain Devlan Ranat decides to bring the Iron Circle to Kedeva to try and improve their fortunes. Dark events begin in Raylack (see the Chapter One Timeline – major spoilers).
